This week’s treat is Health Maintenance Organization or “HMO.”

HMO is a type of Part C-Medicare Advantage Plan. It’s also a medical insurance group that provides health services at a fixed annual fee. While members must get their care and services from in-network providers, there are a few exceptions:

  1. Emergency Care,
  2. Out-of-Area Urgent Care,
  3. Temporary Out-of-Area Dialysis.

These services are covered whether they are provided in or outside the plan’s network. Please note that the cost for receiving non-emergency health care won’t be covered when it’s unauthorized and outside the plan’s network.
