Medicare Enhances Caregiver Training to Support Kūpuna and Families

At Hawaii SHIP, we know caregiving is an act of love — but it can also be challenging without the right support. That’s why we’re excited to share important news: Medicare now covers caregiver training to help family caregivers feel more confident and supported when providing care to their loved ones​.

This new benefit is a big step forward in improving the health and well-being of both Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers.


What’s New: Caregiver Training Now Covered by Medicare

Starting in 2025, Medicare will pay for caregiver training when it’s part of the beneficiary’s treatment plan. This means if your loved one’s doctor determines that a caregiver is needed to help with medications or personal care, Medicare may cover the training necessary to prepare you.
