The Parts of Medicare (A, B, C, D)

Medicare has four main parts. Part A covers hospital care, and Part B covers doctor visits and medical services. Most people start with Original Medicare (Parts A and B), which lets you see almost any doctor because most accept Medicare. If you want drug coverage, you can join a Part D plan.

Part C is also called Medicare Advantage. These private plans give you your Medicare benefits in a different way, and they may have rules about which providers you can see. Some plans offer extra benefits, like dental or vision care. It’s important to compare your choices so you choose what works best for your health needs.
