Medicare Cards

Everyone with Medicare receives a red, white, and blue card. This card shows your name, your Medicare number, and the dates your Part A and Part B started. If you have Original Medicare, bring this card whenever you go to the doctor or hospital.

If you have a Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan, you’ll use the card from that plan when you get care or pick up your prescriptions. If you have retiree or union insurance, keep those cards handy too so your doctor can bill the right company.

Keep your Medicare card in a safe place. If it gets lost or damaged, you can call Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE or log in to your Medicare.gov account to get a new one. And remember: never give out your Medicare number to strangers. If you suspect fraud, contact your local Senior Medicare Patrol.
